Pâtisserie Paris S’éveille
The French repertoire, perfected
Yoshiaki Kaneko’s Paris S’éveille in Jiyugaoka is the reference for the full French repertoire in Tokyo: mont-blancs, mille-feuilles, tarts and entremets made with a Paris palace training and a Japanese hand, in the sweetest suburb in the world.
Kaneko trained in Paris kitchens and opened in Jiyugaoka in 2003; the shop is small and busy, with a counter of French classics done to a standard Paris envies: the mont-blanc in autumn, the mille-feuille, the Saint-Honoré, seasonal fruit tarts, and viennoiserie in the morning. A small salon serves the cakes with tea.
Jiyugaoka has a dozen serious counters, Mont St. Clair among them, and Paris S’éveille is the first stop.
