Dominique Ansel Bakery
The Cronut bakery
The SoHo bakery of Dominique Ansel is where the Cronut was invented in 2013 and where the queue has stood since: a small shop with a garden at the back, the DKA, the cookie shot and a flavour of Cronut a month.
The bakery opened on Spring Street in 2011 and became world news two years later. Beyond the Cronut, one flavour a month, two per person, pre-order online, the counter sells the DKA, Ansel’s kouign-amann, the cookie shot with milk, the frozen s’more, seasonal creations and a very good croissant. The garden at the back has tables; the shop is small.
Arrive before eight for the Cronut or walk in at ten for the DKA, which is the better pastry.
