The lobby salon of the Métropole, velvet and dark wood by Jacques Garcia beside the casino gardens, serves the reference afternoon tea of the Riviera with the citrus of Menton on the stand.
The salon is dark and sumptuous, with mirrors, a fireplace in winter and windows onto the gardens. The stand follows the British form with a Riviera accent: sandwiches, scones, a tier of citrus tarts, honey and almond pastries; champagne is poured as a matter of course. The tea list includes a Monaco blend.
It is the only full afternoon tea in the principality and the calm alternative to the casino square.
