The café is the red salon of the hotel behind the Opera: velvet, crystal, portraits of Anna Sacher. Most guests take a slice of torte and a coffee; the afternoon tea version brings sandwiches, Viennese pastries and the torte on a stand with the hotel’s tea blends. The queue outside is for the café tables and moves.
The Sacher Eck on the corner serves the same torte faster; the café is the ritual.
