The Café Imperial serves the Imperial Torte with coffee under stucco and chandeliers on the Ringstrasse, and an afternoon tea in the same room for those who want the whole Viennese repertoire on a stand.
The café is the grand room of the Ringstrasse palace, stucco ceilings, chandeliers, a pianist in the evening. The torte is the reason: layers of almond wafer and chocolate cream under marzipan, served with coffee or as part of an afternoon tea with sandwiches and Viennese Mehlspeisen.
The tour buses have not found it; the room is calm at four.
