Korean-French in Flatiron
Eunji Lee
Eunji Lee, former executive pastry chef of Jungsik, opened Lysée in Flatiron in 2022: a boutique that looks like a gallery and sells a corn cake, a rice cake and a Paris-trained precision that New York had not seen.

Lee trained in Seoul and Paris, worked at Le Meurice under Cédric Grolet and led the pastry kitchen of Jungsik, the two-star Korean restaurant in Tribeca, where her desserts were cited among the best in the city. In 2022 she opened Lysée with Sébastien Moutard on West 21st Street: a two-floor boutique with a gallery-like display, a salon upstairs and pieces built around Korean flavours in French forms, a corn mousse cake, a rice cake, a chestnut, a sculptural pear.
Her style is architectural and quiet, with Grolet’s trompe-l’œil training turned to her own materials. The boutique sells out by early afternoon and has become the New York address for pastry people.
Lee is the New York chapter of the palace-to-boutique story, with Seoul in the flavour.
