The Art Afternoon Tea
Rosewood London in the old Pearl Assurance building serves the Art Afternoon Tea in the Mirror Room: pastries modelled on the exhibitions of the season, with a pastry kitchen that treats them as sculpture.
The Edwardian insurance headquarters on High Holborn reopened in 2013 as Rosewood London, with a courtyard, a grand staircase of Pavonazzo marble and the Mirror Room, a salon lined with faceted mirrors. The Art Afternoon Tea, launched with the pastry chef Mark Perkins, builds each collection around an artist or an exhibition in the city: pastries shaped like a sculpture, a canvas, a chair. The collection changes several times a year and is the most creative tea in London.
The Holborn Dining Room next door does the savoury side with the city’s best pies, and the hotel’s pastry kitchen supplies both; the Mirror Room tea books out on weekends for the theme of the moment.
