Tea among the peacocks
Capella on Sentosa, two colonial barracks joined by a Norman Foster building, serves afternoon tea in Chef’s Table and the lobby with peacocks on the lawn and a pastry kitchen of quiet ambition.
The resort opened in 2009 on a hill of Sentosa Island around two British officers’ messes from the 1880s, joined by a curved Foster building and gardens where peacocks walk. Its afternoon tea in the lobby lounge and its pastry kitchen, which serves the restaurants and the seasonal collections, are the resort alternative to the city teas: fewer pieces, more fruit, a tier that looks at a rainforest. Capella hosted the 2018 summit that made it a name beyond Singapore; the peacocks are the reason to remember it.
Take the tea on a weekday after lunch, walk the grounds and return to the city by taxi before dinner.
