Confiserie Sprüngli, Paradeplatz

Luxemburgerli and the café upstairs

Sprüngli on the Paradeplatz has been the confiserie of Zurich since 1836: the Luxemburgerli, the truffles du jour, the Kirschtorte, and a café upstairs where the city’s bankers take their coffee and their cake.

The shop on the corner of the Bahnhofstrasse and the Paradeplatz is the mother house of the confiserie: a ground floor of counters with Luxemburgerli in pastel rows, truffles made daily, pralines, cakes and the Zurich classics, and a café upstairs with windows onto the square. The house has shops across the city and the airport; the Paradeplatz is the one to visit.

A box of Luxemburgerli with a date on it is the Zurich souvenir, and the café is the Zurich breakfast.
