Mori Yoshida
Japanese exactness in the 7th
Mori Yoshida’s boutique on the avenue de Breteuil is the address Paris pastry chefs recommend to each other: a Tokyo-born chef who makes the French classics, the Mont-Blanc, the flan, the mille-feuille, with a precision the French admire and envy.
Yoshida trained in Tokyo and in Paris kitchens and opened his shop in 2013 near the Invalides: a small white room with a counter of perfect classics, the Mont-Blanc with a meringue as light as air, the flan with a vanilla custard, the tarts, the mille-feuille, and Japanese seasonal pieces in autumn. He was named the best pastry chef in Paris by the city’s critics, and the Sunday queue reaches the corner.
It is the boutique for the classics done better than the classics.
