Bontemps

The sablé, perfected

Bontemps on the rue de Bretagne makes the sablé, the French butter biscuit, into a boutique: shortbread tarts with fruit, sandwich sablés with cream, a garden tea room behind the shop and a Marais queue on Sundays.

The shop opened in 2015 around one idea: the sablé breton, crumbly and buttery, as the base for everything. Tarts of raspberry, lemon or chocolate on a sablé, small sandwich biscuits with vanilla or praline cream, and a tea room in a courtyard garden where the pieces are served with coffee. The blue and white shop is one of the prettiest in the Marais.

The sablés travel for a week and make the best Paris biscuit gift.
