Mont-Blanc and L’Africain
Angelina on the rue de Rivoli has served its Mont-Blanc and its thick hot chocolate under a Belle Époque ceiling since 1903, to Proust, to Chanel and to the queue that forms along the arcades every afternoon.
The tea room is a Belle Époque salon with mirrors, painted panels and marble; the counter at the entrance sells the Mont-Blanc to take away and the house’s cakes, chocolates and jars of the hot chocolate. Inside, L’Africain, the hot chocolate, arrives with a jug of whipped cream and the Mont-Blanc with its chestnut vermicelli. The house has salons in Paris, Dubai and New York.
The queue is for the tea room; the counter is quick.
