The showman of pastry
Christophe Michalak
Christophe Michalak, pastry world champion in 2005 and former pastry chef of the Plaza Athénée, made pastry television and opened his own boutiques in Paris with a rock-and-roll sense of the classic.

Michalak won the pastry world cup in 2005 with the French team, led the pastry kitchen of the Plaza Athénée for a decade and became the face of pastry on French television, where his shows taught a generation to temper chocolate. He left the palace in 2015 to open his own houses: a pastry school, then boutiques in Saint-Germain and the Marais with his Kosmik desserts, his religieuses and his choux.
His style is playful and generous, with pop references and big flavours, but the palace precision underneath is real. He remains one of the best-known pastry chefs in France and a mentor to several of the younger palace chefs.
Michalak is proof that a pastry chef can be a personality without losing the craft.
