The Peninsula Boutique & Café
The Lobby, to go
The Peninsula Boutique in the arcade of the hotel sells the Lobby tea pastries, the scones, the chocolates, the XO sauce and, in autumn, the egg custard mooncakes that started a Hong Kong tradition.
The boutique sits in the arcade of the hotel with a small café attached and sells what the Peninsula pastry kitchen is known for: the scones and cakes of the Lobby tea, the chocolates, the Peninsula teas and the XO sauce the hotel invented in the 1980s. In August the mini egg custard mooncakes go on sale and sell out within weeks; the rest of the year the seasonal cakes and the chocolate boxes queue.
The boutique is the way around the Lobby queue: the same scones, a table in the café, and no wait.
