Two salons, one winner
Afternoon Tea Duel
Pick two afternoon teas from the thirty-seven in the guide and compare them on price, champagne, setting, pastry, savoury, service and value; the radar decides.
The Ritz against Claridge’s, the Peninsula against the Plaza, Sahn Eddar against the Palace Lounge: choose two salons and the duel compares the guide price, the champagne surcharge, the number of pastries and the five scores, then names the winner.
Every afternoon tea in the guide carries five scores from 0 to 100 (setting, pastry, savoury, service, value) and a set of facts: the guide price per person, the champagne surcharge, the number of tiers, savouries and pastries, the dress code and how far ahead to book. The duel lays them side by side, draws both on a radar and adds the scores; a draw is a draw and you should order both.
Frequently asked questions
Which afternoon tea wins most duels?
Claridge’s Foyer on balance, the Ritz Palm Court on setting, the Rosebery and the Butterfly Room on pastry. Try your own pair.
Are the prices exact?
They are guide values per person in euros as of 2026, converted from local currencies; the salons change them with the season.
