The world’s best, twice
Nina Métayer
Nina Métayer was named the world’s best pastry chef in 2023 by two juries, the first woman to hold the title, and runs Délicatisserie, her own house in Paris, after the kitchens of Le Meurice, the Grand Hôtel and Yannick Alléno.

Born in 1988 in La Rochelle, Métayer trained as a baker before moving to pastry, worked at the Hôtel Raphael, Le Meurice under Camille Lesecq, the Café Pouchkine and the restaurants of Yannick Alléno and Jean-François Piège, and was named pastry chef of the year in France while still in her twenties. In 2020 she launched Délicatisserie, first as an online patisserie delivering across Paris, then with a physical house.
In 2023 both La Liste and the Best Chef Awards named her the world’s best pastry chef, the first woman to receive the title. Her style is delicate and natural: fruit, flowers, a light sugar, a decorative sense that never overwhelms the taste.
Métayer is the pastry chef of her generation who chose her own house over a palace, and Paris followed her there.
